Peptide therapy has gained great popularity in recent years due largely to their safety and the fact they are highly specific in their behavior. Peptides are naturally occurring biological molecules that are made up of amino acids and they have far ranging effects including enhanced immunity and quicker healing, weight loss and increased muscle mass, increased libido and an effective treatment for erectile dysfunction.

What Are Peptides?

Peptides are naturally occurring molecules containing between 2 to 50 amino acids and are often referred to as short proteins. They have been proven to be safe, effective and typically act as signaling molecules in the body.

Some peptides cause the secretion of natural human growth hormone (hGH) in the body and are used in the treatment of age-related conditions such as osteoporosis, obesity, and various chronic inflammatory diseases, and have several advantages over traditional hGH administration. Another peptide that is part of the hGH molecule that is responsible for fat cell death is used in the composition of a very effective anti-obesity drug and in addition it has been found to decrease inflammation and increase lean muscle mass.

Would You Benefit from Peptide Therapy?

Peptide therapy encompasses numerous different drugs with varied effects, ranging from immune modulation and tissue repair to fat loss and muscle building. Our center has seen very positive results in patients with CFS, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, Lyme disease, and fibromyalgia, among other conditions.

Thymosin Alpha-1

Thymosin alpha-1 (T α 1) consists of 28 amino acids and is naturally produced by the thymus gland. The thymus is located behind the sternum and is whereby the T α 1 peptide prompts the maturation and release of T cells. T cell production and action within the body is vital to adaptive immunity—the mode by which immune cells are able to recognize and eradicate foreign invaders.

T α 1 has been found to have a profound effect on the immune system. Specifically, T α 1 has been shown to enhance the function of both T cells and dendritic cells, both of which are very important to anyone with a suppressed immune system. T α 1 is the active ingredient in the immune modulating drug, Zadaxin®, that is used to treat hepatitis B and C and has been studied extensively for its ability to support an immune system that has been suppressed by chemotherapy in cancer patients.

Dendritic cells are just as valuable to our body’s defense system. These cells gather important information about infection or the presence of cancerous cells, and communicate with the T cells, who then act appropriately to eradicate the unhealthy cells and stop the infection or cancer growth.

In addition to its use in the treatment of Hepatitis, AIDS, and cancer, T α 1 has shown great promise in the treatment of Lyme disease by assisting the immune system to locate and eradicate the Lyme bacteria and infected cells.

The T α 1 peptide can be administered via subcutaneous injection. T α 1 has been found to be very safe, and there have not been any documented side effects associated with its administration. It is approved in more than 37 countries for the treatment of hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and as an adjunct to chemotherapy and various vaccines.

Thymosin Beta 4

The discovery of the role of Thymosin beta 4 (Tβ4) in immune regulation has led to it use in the treatment of HIV, AIDS, Influenza, colds, and various infections. It has also been found in high concentrations in wound tissue and certain blood cells involved in clotting making it a valuable additional of treatment following heart attack due to its cardio and neuroprotective effects.

It aids in the rebuilding of blood vessels that carry oxygen and nutrients to injured parts of the body. At the same time, it has anti-inflammatory properties decreasing the number of cytokines present.

Inflammation plays a large role in many of the symptoms associated with a large number of conditions and Tβ4 It has been utilized in the management of various inflammatory conditions, including Lyme disease and other inflammatory conditions. Tβ4 is very well tolerated and has not been found to cause any significant side effects. It can be taken on its own or in conjunction with an existing therapy, making it a versatile and valuable drug.

Peptides Stimulate hGh Secretion

A class of peptides called secretagogues (GHSs) have been found to stimulate the production of human growth hormones. Each peptide varies slightly as far as structure and how it works. This affects which peptide is administered based on the patient’s health status and desired outcome. GHSs include: CJC 1295, GHRP 2, GHRP 6, Hexarelin, and Ipamorelin.

CJC 1295

CJC 1295 is a molecule that serves the same purpose as GHRH—the hormone that stimulates the anterior pituitary to release hGH. However, unlike GHRH, which has a half-life of only minutes after IV administration, CJC 1295 is able to remain active in the body for extended periods due to its ability to bind to albumen, a protein in the blood.
CJC 1295 increases an important growth factor, IGF-1, in addition to hGH, leading to fat loss, lean muscle growth, and enhanced sleep.

AOD 9064

AOD9064 increases fat burning without the increase in in blood sugar and growth rate that has been seen with hGH itself. It is a modified fragment of hGH that is believed to be responsible for hGH’s anti-obesity effects.

AOD 9604 has been deemed safe for chronic use by the FDA, receiving Human GRAS status in 2014. In addition to its utility as an anti-obesity peptide, AOD 9604 has been shown to have very favorable cartilage repair and regenerative properties, especially when paired with peptide BPC 157.

Bremelanotide PT 141

Bremelanotide PT 141 is used in the treatment of erectile dysfunction and has been shown to increase libido in both men and women within minutes of administration.

Because it can bypass the vascular system and cross the blood-brain-barrier to act on
the central nervous system it has an advantage over traditional ED drugs, that can decrease blood pressure to dangerous levels. This peptide can be administered as a nasal spray, making its use convenient and discreet.

BPC-157

BPC-157 is a pentadecapeptide made of 15 amino acids. It is a partial sequence of the body protection compound (BPC) derived from human gastric juice. Experiments have shown that it heightens the healing o many different types of tissues, including tendon, muscle, nervous system, and is superior at healing damaged ligaments.

Patients who suffer from discomfort due to sprains, tears and tissue damage may benefit from this treatment as it can increase blood flow back to the injured sites.
